Quick Gruyere Mac and Cheese

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cup milk (2% or whole)
  • 1 cup water
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1 12 oz box elbow macaroni
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 3/4 cup grated gruyere
  • 3/4 cup grated cheddar

    Bring 2 cups milk, the water, and 1/2 tsp salt to a boil over medium-high heat.

    Stir in the macaroni and reduce heat to medium-low / simmer.

    Cook uncovered for 5 minutes or until pasta is just al dente. Stir frequently.

    Remove from heat and stir in the butter, 1/4 tsp salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder.

    Alternate adding handfuls of cheese with update 3/4 cup additional milk until the sauce is smooth.
