Grandma's Ham & Bean Soup

A slow, old-fashioned ham and bean soup built on dried beans and a ham bone.

Ingredients

  • Ham or ham bone
  • 1 cup dried beans (Great Northern or other)
  • Potatoes
  • Onion
  • Carrots

Instructions

    Put the dried beans in a pot with water to cover. Bring to a boil and boil for 5 minutes.

    Turn off the burner and let sit for 2 hours.

    Add ham and onion. Cook for 60–90 minutes.
