Ingredients

  • 8 gallons water
  • 5 pounds barley meal
  • 4 herrings, meat pounded
  • Salt, pepper, vinegar, and herbs, to taste

Instructions

    Combine water and barley meal.

    Boil it to the consistency of a thick jelly.

    Season it with salt, pepper, vinegar, sweet herbs. Add the herring meat.
